Pocket Beta Privacy

Updated October 11, 2026. Pocket is an independent coursework planning extension for SCAD Blackboard, not affiliated with SCAD or Blackboard.

Blackboard and Device Storage

After you choose Connect, Pocket reads coursework through your existing signed-in Blackboard session. It reads course membership, Gradebook records, assignment instruction fields, announcements, course content descriptions, discussion descriptions, and attachment metadata. It does not request your SCAD password, copy login cookies to its server, start assessment attempts, submit work, or edit Blackboard records.

Course records, Pocket checkmarks, schedules, notes, cached AI results, appearance settings, and your tester invite stay in extension-local storage on this browser. This is not encrypted storage or cross-device synchronization. Protect your computer and Chrome profile. Sync is attempted approximately daily while Chrome and your Blackboard session permit it.

Optional AI Processing

AI is off until you enter your tester invite in Settings and accept processing. Selected coursework excerpts and course/assignment titles are sent over HTTPS to Pocket's Cloudflare-hosted service, then to OpenAI for briefs, labels, or Focus learning resources. Pocket does not intentionally send grades, your account name, Blackboard credentials, the complete snapshot, or personal milestone notes. Coursework text can itself contain identifying information, so do not enable AI for materials you are not authorized to share.

OpenAI requests use store:false. This does not promise zero provider retention. OpenAI and Cloudflare may process technical logs and data under their policies. Pocket's application does not persist request bodies server-side; hashed invite identifiers and daily usage counters are retained for rate/budget control. Cloudflare can receive connection metadata such as IP addresses.

Control and Deletion

Settings → Pocket AI → Turn off AI removes the locally saved invite and stops new AI requests. Settings → Blackboard → Delete synced data removes coursework, plans, brief caches, and display-label caches. Uninstalling Pocket removes its browser storage. Independently downloaded files remain yours to delete. Turning off AI does not erase existing local results or provider-managed records.

Beta Limits

AI summaries can be incomplete or incorrect. Original Blackboard instructions remain authoritative. Some linked files and external tools cannot yet be read. Pocket completion is not Blackboard submission. Invite codes are individual bearer credentials, not identity-verified accounts; keep yours private. Daily limits may pause AI while saved planning remains usable.

Support and Access Requests

Contact the developer using Pocket's issue tracker for support or invite revocation. Do not post credentials, grades, or private coursework publicly. Contact the developer privately through your beta invitation channel for requests involving personal information.

Setup

Install Pocket from the Chrome Web Store listing supplied by the developer. Sign in to SCAD Blackboard normally, open Pocket, and choose Connect. For optional AI, enter your private invite under Settings → Pocket AI, then use Refresh now.
